A Tuesday Ramble…

I made a pair with Snowflake Obsidian, a pair in Aventurine & some in Haematite. I’ll be doing a photoshoot asap. The pair above are some Tigers Eye earrings that I made a couple of years ago.
I also finished watching The Devil’s Whore last night starring the very beautiful Andrea Riseborough & the brilliant John Simm, a favourite actor of mine ever since The Lakes on BBC about ten years ago! TDW is set back in the day of King Charles & Oliver Cromwell & tells the true (& very sad) story of Lady Angelica Fanshawe… married 3 times & each one died. It’s very well acted & definitely worth a watch! It’s available on channel 4 on demand if anyone fancies it.
I also fell in love with this today whilst over at Inside A Black Apple. Emily has done a series of 12 paintings all inspired by Alice In Wonderland… marvellous!
Here is Week 4 of 8 Weeks To A Better Me… all about learning to love yourself, something that most people do struggle with. I’m going to count myself very lucky here & say that actually my self-image is pretty good. I was blessed with a very strong-willed & opinionated mother who taught me & my brother to believe in ourselves, to be self-reliant & to not care what other people think. It is harder not to care what others think as you get older (or so I’ve found) but on the whole she gave me a pretty good grounding & I’m generally pretty nice to myself! Thanks mum x

(Not Quite Really) Sunday Sweetness
Posted: March 8, 2010 Filed under: crafting, Enid Blyton, mum, NCIS, Norfolk, Poirot, Sunday Sweetness, thrifting, weheartit 4 CommentsSo this weeks Sunday Sweetness is 24 hrs late (again!) but that’s because I’ve been in sunny Norfolk over the weekend visiting my mum & last night spent a couple of hours helping her get her blog set up instead of working on my own! It was a lovely couple of days with the sun shining (although it was cold!), my mums puppies running around creating mayhem, a shopping trip, a DIY attempt, & our favourite pasttime, CRAFTING!!!! Mum is a huge papercrafter, she makes beautiful cards & ATC’s as well as creating beautiful Punchcraft embroideries & being a talented florist. She has her own craft room (I’m not jealous, no, no, no!) & it is full to the brim with papers, paints, colours, ribbons, brads, glitter, glue, cardstock, sequins… it’s like Crafting Heaven! We also sat & watched some favourite TV: NCIS (her) & Poirot (me!)… it was a good couple of days…. I have pictures to put up of my thrifted finds (Enid Blyton book ‘The Enchanted Forest’, Pineapple dress, Dr Seuss t-shirt, floristry ring, Russian Dolls, yay!) the flower embroidery I did whilst I was there (that mum has kept) & some felt flowers that I’ve made so stay tuned! (all pics in this post from weheartit)

Emergency Winter Survival Pack

What would you have in your Winter Survival Pack??? My mum has been snowed in for 36 hours plus now & had no electricity for almost the full 36 hrs… it’s back on now thank goodness. Unfortunately her entire village is electric only so she couldn’t go anywhere to get warm & she couldn’t cook. She has survived on tuna rolls & cheese on crackers!
Luckily she has plenty of magazines & books to read & two puppies to keep her entertained & warm. She had a torch & plenty of candles luckily and blankets so she did manage. The electricity was on for an hour and a half yesterday morning so she managed a cup of tea but I think I’ll be getting her a Thermos in case it happens again. And a battery run radio, plenty to keep entertained, paint, wool, puzzles etc. and plenty of tinned fruit. I’m glad the electricity is back on I was very very worried, but she is ok 🙂
