Staying Creative

(source)
EDIT: Today I tried a couple of things on the list… having fun & finishing something! I made 8 new necklaces and an autumnal wreath. I don’t think that the wreath is quite finished but I’m pretty happy with it.
The necklaces were a bit of an experiment but for now I’m waiting for them to dry & I’ll see what I think in the morning. However they are finished & the wreath was fun… it’s good to think outside the box every so often.

Now I’m chilling out with the Salvatore brothers.. (yep, I’m watching The Vampire Diaries & loving every second!)

1. walk by the sea
2. create
3. eat home cooked food

7. smile
8. make someone else smile
9. see fresh flowers

What ten things would you like to do every day?

Lists

I am a prolific list writer.

Shopping lists, recipe lists, To Do lists, daydreamy ‘I would like..’ lists, daily lists, long-term lists…. I like a good list. There is something about writing something down on paper in order to achieve it. And, of course, the satisfaction of crossing it off afterwards. Sometimes I add things that I have done to a ‘To do’ list in order to make it look like I’ve done more than I have!

Back at the beginning of July in this post I set myself a list of things to do before September & I have to confess to have not gotten very far. Still to do…

 *A drawing a day.
*Go to an art exhibition
*Get bridal necklace done for Claire’s September wedding
*Get a good camera

Now I have a few more to add to the list…

*Get bridesmaids gift necklaces done (3)
*Go swimming with DB & A before the summer is over
*Have a goodbye lunch with my friend Emma before she relocates to Brum for university in 3 weeks!
*Get college projects up & rolling… (1)create a collection of amazing & interesting things ~ a minimum of 10 objects & (2) complete a visual diary in a completed scrapbook ~ recording aspects of my life through drawings, painting, photographs & collage.
*Learn some time management skills in order to achieve all of this!

Are you a list writer? I literally wouldn’t survive without them!

Things To Do Before September

Rebecca @ Consider My Dear

1. A drawing a day… my Art & design course starts in September & in my interview the tutor stressed how important simply drawing is & said that mine was weak (it is!) & that I needed to practise over the summer. One of Leigh-Ann’s draw-a-longs might come in pretty handy!

2. Make up some more earrings using up my current stash ready for sale.

3. Go to an art exhibition… perhaps the Joan Miro exhibition at The Tate Modern?

4. Get the bridal necklace for this beautiful lady ready for their September wedding!

5. Finally get a good camera!

What’s on your ‘To Do’ list for the rest of summer?

Before I’m 33…

So I added some new *wishes* to my Before I’m 33 Wishlist… Rereading my favourite childhood book(s) should be fun. I remember quite vividly from when I was quite small Phoebe & The Hot Water Bottles & The Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton. Two favourite series were The Chronicles of Narnia (which I have since reread) & Anne of Green Gables. It’ll be nice to revisit my childhood this way. So I adapted this & the next one from www.learningtoloveyou.com there are 70 very random things on there you should check it out! No.27 on that list is to take a photo of the sun. So I’ve added it to my list as I think it’ll be intriguing.

Wearing an entirely red outfit for the day I think will be an experience! I don’t wear red. I’ve had red hair on many occasions & I do own a pair of red high-heeled shoes that I can’t walk in at all! So I’ll be keeping my eye out for either red skinny jeans or a lovely red dress with red tights. I used to own a red coat but not anymore… & I may even venture as far as red lipstick!                                                                                                  Donating blood is quite a biggie for me.. to be honest it scares me! Aaaaagggghhhhhh! I hate needles & am a baby about having my blood drawn for a test. Which is why I’ve put it on my list. I’ve got to do at least one thing that scares me!                                                                                                                                  Going to a castle with Mr J. In 2008 we went to Warwick castle & had a lovely day out. Mr J loves castles & we haven’t been to one since! We didn’t do much last summer (the weather was awful & I put in a lot of hours at work) but this year is definitely about making more time for us so to another castle we will go! Another thing we are quite rubbish at is going to the cinema. The last film we saw at the movies was the latest Harry Potter some time last year. This year I’m going 12 times!!!! At least. I’m also going to treat myself to the ballet. I haven’t been for absolutely years but I work next door to a theatre & this year I will be going. My other new addition is to go to Scotland. I’ve never been but Mr J has & so many people tell me it’s beautiful… Fingers crossed 🙂

Before I’m 33 *Wish*List Explanations…

# Make a ‘perfect’ cupcake (click on pic for source)…. I’ve made fairy cakes before (fairy cake/cupcake they’re the same I think) but never one of those ‘oh-my-god-that-looks-so-amazing-i’m-not-sure-i-can-actually-eat-it-cupcakes. And I want too!
# Go to the Tate Modern… I’ve never been!
# Learn to drive… I think it’s about time! I’d love my own VW bug or an old mini 🙂
#Make a birthday cake… I made one once, but not very well. I want to make one this year & it will be great!
#Make jam… I’ve always wanted to do this. How hard can it be? How yummy will it be??!
#Go to Paris. Everybody has to go once…
#Bake a pie from scratch.. pastry & all… I once made a scrummy steak & Guiness pie but I cheated and bought a packet of Shortcrust pastry mix. Hhhmmm I’ve got a few baking related ones on here haven’t I?!
#Fill an entire scrap/collage book… it probably will take me a year to do this 🙂

#Learn to knit… OK so this one was actually one of my New Years Resolutions for 2009 but I haven’t acheived it yet so I figured I’d put it on this list instead!

#Go blackberry picking… I love blackberries. & if I’m blackberry picking then it’ll be warming & sunny. Blackberry picking in the sunshine sounds kind of idyllic to me…
#Read 5 ‘classic’s…. any suggestions welcome!
#Get a sewing machine…. *dreams* I wish, I wish, I wish…
#A trip to the US… I’ll blog about this in a seperate post, I’m collecting weird & wonderful places to visit in the US & I really want to go with Mr J.
#Pretty china tea sets… Mr J would break them, that’s the main problem with this one! But maybe I could ‘have’ some as transitional items before they head off elsewhere…
#A polaroid camera… I used to have one but I have no idea where it ended up. I’d love to replace it anyway!
#New glasses… I’ve had mine a couple of years now & the prescription needs updating.
#New laptop… mine is almost dead. I need to use it for work too so it’s going to need replacing 😦
#A good camera… cuz i’m just using the camera on my phone, which isn’t too bad, but….
So that’s my wishlist so far…
