I do appear to have developed a borderline obsession with flora & fauna recently. You may recall that I signed up for a botanical illustration course but it got cancelled so now I’m teaching myself. The beautiful Blue Tit jug above is the work of Julia Smith, a ceramics artist who lives in Inverness.
Melissa’s blog Tiny Happy is one of my favourite blogs because she always shares sketches & embroidery that she’s done inspired by the beautiful environment around her.
Isn’t this room beautifully styled? May have to steal their idea! (click pic for source)
Beautiful botany preservation. I’ve got some framed dried flowers at home… I’ll have to take a picture to show you. It’s even got a sticker on the back with the name of the lady who made it!
I love this beautiful altered art book, gorgeous. (Found here)
Know any flora & fauna or botany gems I should know about? Please share if you do!

This weekend at mums I made (1&2) this pretty flower embroidery/applique piece embellished with sequins… mum liked it so much she kept it! I also made these (3&4) felt flowers which I’m going to turn into brooches, hair slides & all sorts (with the help of the fabulous kit Hazel sent me <3). I’m very very much into flowers at the moment! Pics 5 & 6 are brooches I’ve made previously… 5. is for sale here & 6 already has a home. I enjoy making brooches… more to come I think!

I have become slightly obsessed with embroidery of late. Because I’m still learning various stitches I’m having quite a lot of fun with applique too & am mixing the two in together. I’m on a scouting mission tomorrow for some more embroidery hoops, for some reason they are in short supply in Oxford. I found these gorgeous embroideries & I wanted to share… 1) Cicada by concentric 2) Lovebirds by HouseJewels 3) I am totally in love with this one… Martha and George by Viv Strauss 4) Wrens by HareandDrum and lastly 5) by moi! I need to get a better shot with decent lighting… waiting for a bright sunny day.. Come on Spring!
